Have we been had? An article in the AJC indicates that Dunwoody will start out over $2 million in debt?

"A task force studying finances of the new city of Dunwoody presented a cash flow projection Monday night that shows the city about $2.3 million in the red for the first year."

Let me echo the sentiment of numerous people I have spoken with in District 3, which I represent: "I told you so."

Ms Fix, you do not represent anyone. You have not been elected and given your childish behaviour and combative approach you likely won't be. You were against the city from the start, you do not participate in public forums and you do not express your views well. For the sake of your children, please stop embarassing yourself.

"Have we been had?"

No more than we wanted.

Start with a CVIoG study that is light on expense, heavy on revenue and doesn't address startup costs. Add in an unusual passage of SB82 through the House. Season liberally with questionable task force operations that just couldn't disclose anything before an intentionally hasty referendum. Simmer until the Governor's Commission forces them open. Stir just a little and you'll get that familiar whiff of the appearance of impropriety as a proponent/candidate whose spouse has close ties to CH2M bubbles to the surface. All constantly observed by our leader of the Fourth Estate who has chosen the role of head waiter over chef de cuisine.

Finally, crank up the heat with at liberal dose of confused voters and you've got yourself an interesting bouillabaisse. Best served hot and eaten fast. Enjoy.

Fact is, it is exactly the dish we ordered and if we didn't know this is what we were getting, it is our own fault.

TOD, you're right. Its ours now and we have to deal with it good or bad. Worse than that, I heard an ugly rumor today that I hope is just that? Please don't tell me that we are considering Gene Wilson as our Police Chief. Do you people not remember what just happened with him in our sister city of Sandy Springs? How could our perspective leaders even consider giving him an interview. I find it hard to believe that we would have to settle for Gene Wilson when there has to be other qualified law enforcment candidates to choose from. This is already turning out to be the Good ole boy system that I was concerned with from the very beginning.

I think the "Citizens for Dunwoody" have some explaining to do.

Were they so desperate to make sure Dunwoody became a city that they would misrepresent the facts or, just plain lie?

I think we need to look closely at the candidates. I would certainly vote against any candidate that was part of the "Citizens for Dunwoody". Just my two cents.

I would offer one exception: John Heneghan. He has done an admirable job keeping folks informed for years. He has also posted CfD information as soon as legally possible.

We should also be careful when we attribute to malice what is readily explained by incompetence.
