I thought the lake/pond on that property was not to ever be filled or removed according to some documents unearthed a while back? I remember reading something about this not too long ago. Can you explain?

This redevelopment proposal was originally believed to be allowed by the previous zoning in place but they would still need minor variances that were to be heard by the Zoning Board of Appeals. City discovered that the previous zoning was not in place, therefore, a complete rezoning of the property by City Council needs to be approved if such redevelopment is to move forward. Planning commission heard the matter last month and first read of the proposal is to be heard on Monday and final vote will not happen until June.

Looks like a good improvement over the current use. Will the bike/commuter trail connect to the hotel tax-supported trail being built up Ashford-Dunwoody in front of the mall?
