ReplyDeleteYou may have this wrong. As far as I know, this meeting is just about options for students at schools that are labeled Needs Improvement by NCLB.
There will be a Powerpoint presentation about the NCLB policies and then choice options for those schools that are labeled NI.
One meeting is being held in each part of the county.
OK, I apologize if I am wrong but the information available in the flyer said very little and I attempted to interpret what it meant. I do believe I posted the correct information (links & brochures) on school choices for most of the parents in the Dunwoody area. Thanks for correcting me if the focus of the meeting is a little different than what I imagined but I’m sure they will be able to answer questions on general school choice if asked.
ReplyDeleteAs far as No Child Left Behind, the one question that comes to my mind is, “Will Dunwoody High School continue to be a Receiving School?”
I think I'm correct on this, but if Dunwoody does not make AYP again, then the school goes into the "Needs Improvement" category and cannot be a receiving school.
ReplyDeleteIf, however, Dunwoody does make AYP, I would venture to guess it will still be a receiving school.
Cerebration posted the information on the Dekalb School Watch blog. Dunwoody will not be a receiving school, but Peachtree will have 50 8th grade seats available. Here's the link.
