  1. I have not been shy when City Council members have shown up a the Comp Plan public meetings and actively participated in the community discussions.
General Shortal and I had our first of many public standoffs over this point very early on in the process.
I believe without a doubt, that public officials should not participate in meetings and committees as their very presence may sway opinion or discourage others from participating.
These meetings and committees should be opportunities for our elected officials to hear from the public and not lobby for their positions or voice their opinions.
You can agree or not. That is not the point of this message.
The point is, I was shocked to see that on Monday's agenda, the Comp Plan discussion is buried in the 9th slot.
The single most important piece of Dunwoody's future and it is buried in an agenda of 15 items.
We just spent what seemed like years reviewing every line of the new sign codes, had a special called meeting where council dissected the code and the Comp Plan gets buried.
I have asked the Council to be silent up until now because they would have the final say as to what will pass. That time is now and the City seems to think SIGNS are more important than the future of our City.
Note to the City Manager and Council, do the right thing one more time and hold a special called meeting so you have all the time you need to publically voice your ideas and opinions before you vote.
