  1. John,
How is the council goingto handle the suggested changes to the document at the meeting?
Is each item going to disucssed and and opened to commmunity input.

The plan you are voting on will help determine who we are for the next twenty years. I do not want to see the process rushed through the Council without significant discussion and input.

I have suggested to Bob Dallas that the City Council meet with the Planning Commission and the Comp Plan Committee to fully discuss and understand the reasoning behind some of the recommendations.

As I have said before this is the most important document you have worked on. I see no reason to rush this afeter all the time spent.

I also commmend you on the research that you had staff conduct, prior to your voting on densities in our community...
Good to know what we have on the ground before we vote to regulate it.
    Thanks
    Bob

  2. Ugh, the revisions to the revision’s revision of permitting/restricting “string lights” still doesn’t work: What is the definition of “a holiday season”? Whose “holiday season” would the city be basing this upon and how many seasons are there? Which religions will be included and which will the city decide to exclude? Seriously, we've debated this for a year and this is the best that we could come up with?!?

I am not a fan of mixing religion and politics. Just to set an example, I’m considering hanging string lights all year – to celebrate Hirschivus (which runs Jan-Dec).

  3. Go for it Joe.
    This is not an HOA
What if I just like lights on my home?
If you wanted to live in a restricted neighborhoodm you all should have moved into a neighborhood with covenants
Can anyone say Country Club of the South?

  4. Was the parks and recreation job actually advertised anywhere?

  5. John: Quick question--I may have missed something, but why doesn't the road repaving plan for 2010 match the streets listed in this: http://jkheneghan.com/city/meetings/2010/Mar/03082010_Five%20Year%20Road%20Resurfacing%20Plan.pdf Also, is it possible for you to include the link to the road repaving survey results that gave the street ratings? Thanks.

  6. Thanks Pattie and others for the comments,

Let me start in reverse order.

Pattie, Trowbridge was removed at council request and other poor quality streets were filled in as budget allows. I did note that Dunridge Ct was removed and don't understand why, therefore it will be my first question on the matter.

Below is a link to the street rating.

The parks job was handled by our public works department and our contractor Lowe Engineers, though I don't currently see it on the city website; it should have been there previously.

When the new Parks Director is announced I am sure the person selected will have an extensive background in that arena.

Joe, I agree with you and will be interested in seeing if the sign committee and Council Members working on this issue will address and therefore modify it during the meeting. If not I will ask questions.

Bob, not sure of the flow of the meeting (Ken's discretion) but I am sure that there will be some discussion. Council has received feedback on the Comp Plan from a number of individuals and I am sure there will be more modifications before this goes final. If the item is deferred another week or two, it is fine by me.
