I am so thrilled to hear that Valley View will be getting sidewalks, though disappointed that they won't be going the length of the street to Chamblee Dunwoody. With the upcoming work to be done on the Dunwoody Village, it makes so much sense to have a safe walking path all the way to the Village!
My wife and I love to walk to the Village with our baby in a stroller, but would feel so much safer with a sidewalk!
Any idea why they are only going halfway? Are there plans to go to full length of the road eventually?
Yes, sidewalks will go the length of all three streets eventually but thought it best to serve all three at the same time vs forcing Valley View or one of the others to wait completely.
Im happy to get whatever sidewalks we can. My family will be able to walk on our street without being run over! When will we find out what side of the street it will be on?
Pleased as punch to hear this news. I've been watching the heavy, regular foot traffic on Valley View Road for 12 years and eagerly look forward to start of construction. I am curious as to which side of the road they will use, and whether we home owners will be kicking in toward the cost.
Mark, I think the North side was mentioned because there is sidewalk there near Chamblee Dunwoody to tie into but an analysis of the complete street has to be done therefore I not think it was completely decided either. There will be no attentional charges for the residents of Valley View for the sidewalk.
