John,
ReplyDeleteCan you post the referenced:
approved “Parks Bond Land Acquisition Strategy”
Sorry John, but I really can't support a much more restrictive "No Solicitation" ordinance, because if the economy gets any worse for my family I'll be having to put on a short skirt and strut up and down tavern row on Ashford-Dunwoody just to keep paying my four kids' college tuition.
ReplyDeleteAnd trust me, that will not be a pretty sight - so, hideous in fact that the city will wish that it had allowed billboards - and big ones at that!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd if you all in the City Council Meeting discuss restricting the frequency of garage sales per residence in Dunwoody, as was reported on the Dunwoody Reporter site, there is NO issue with garage sales in Dunwoody.
ReplyDeleteOnce again this is small-minded people wanting to assert homeowners association type rules via government proxy as they did with the “no chicken ranching” ordinance and attempted to enact with limiting the number of vehicles per household.
Some folks in this town really need to get a life and stop thinking of new ways to screw over their neighbors with inane restrictions or else Dunwoody will become known as a city of Nosy Parkers and kibitzers.
John, On the LCI project, where can I get more information as to the programed list of projects and work that may be involved, covering the total $4M of the project? (with the city paying out $960k over 3 years starting in 2013) The staff memo states:
ReplyDelete"...a transit-oriented
development proposal focusing on STREETSCAPING along Chamblee Dunwoody Road and
implementation of a gateway /way-finding signage program".
I'd just like to know a bit more about what we'd cover here. When I see the words "Streetscape", I only think of what Sandy Springs has done: installing brick paver sidewalks, old-fashioned streetlights, benches, trash receptacles, etc. According to www.walklive.org, Streetscape is defined as:
"the elements within and along the street right-of-way that define its appearance, identity, and functionality, including adjacent buildings and land uses, street furniture, landscaping, trees, sidewalks, and pavement treatments, among others."
If it's truly Multi-Modal TRANSIT-oriented that we're going for, then I'd like to think the project has a larger scope and deal with the movement of people, than focused on streetscapes. And perhaps the resolution can mention we'll do it as a "Complete Street" too?
Thanks, Joe
