Are there any plans to add to this published agenda any items that cost 19 million dollars and kicks out 5% of our city's residents? Last council meeting's agenda didn't mention it.
ReplyDeleteI just read in an AJC article that the City of Dunwoody is going to charge an annual fee of $1100 to each business wanting to sell on Sunday. Did I read that right? Really? Is this going to be the norm across the state? I guess I never read the fine print but this surprised me.
ReplyDeleteSorry should have clarified..."sell alcohol on Sunday".
ReplyDeleteCouncil must do the right thing to keep our officers here. Please, no "I'm a fiscal conservative" blather, rather, show you understand the big picture. (I know YOU will John - thank you, in advance!!)
ReplyDelete$1100 for aSunday permit ?
ReplyDeleteHow on earth can the City justify such an outrageous increase?
While the big box retailers may be able to absorb the outrageous increase, the smaller shops will have a much harder time.
Simply treat Sunday as any other day. There should be no additional fee for adding Sundays
Just another TAX increase that the business folks will have to absord.
I agree Bob. I'm curious how much for other 6 days? I don't understand why Sunday would be treated any differently. But I honestly don't know anything about how these fees work. I'll be watching tonight to see how this plays out.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the city is being asked to bribe police officers! After paying perhaps 12-grand to convince a cop to live in our great city, the police chief is trying to shake down the city for more. That's a pay raise, not a program. And Dunwoody police are amongst the best compensated already. If they don't want to live within the city, they too will have to endure the traffic jams on their way to work.
ReplyDeleteJerry, don't be ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteBob, I too agree with you. I thought this City wanted to be "business-friendly"?? This fee is excessive!
I disagree as well with the $1100 Sunday retail alcohol fee especially for the small business owner; however, I can guarantee these establishments that just one day of my mother-in-law's patronage will more than compensate them for this annual cost.
ReplyDeleteThey were already tagging restaurants the $1100.00 for consumption on the lord's day. They're just changin' it so hard-luck godless alchy-s that just gotta have that sunday sip of mother's milk can go to a retailer that pays just like the barkeeps.
ReplyDeleteYa gotta wonder if they're fixin' the 50%+1 food to booze rule for pour palaces. Will d'Vines only be able to sell package on sunday? Hard to believe they do more than 50% of their trade in food. Strictly rhetorical--I asked, they do not intend to open on sundays.
Yah know the difference between our city taxes and a mafia shakedown?
Me either.
Gary Ray, I have a feeling that might be like the pot calling the kettle black. Regardless, if I were you, I'd find an extra pillow and a blanket, to keep on the living room sofa...
ReplyDeleteThanks for everyone's feedback, in doing my research I have discovered that the following locations may be affected by the change if they would like to sell on Sunday.

ReplyDeleteDPgroupie, you are definitely correct - my comment was a bit like they say in Italy, "Cencio che dice mal di straccio" (i.e. "A rag speaking ill of a cloth"); however, I'm counting on my wife and her momma being genial and broad-minded enough to appreciate my droll wit.
ReplyDeleteIf not, then I'll plead a historical precedence and point out how mother-in-law jokes have always been a traditional Borscht Belt staple.
Aren't there 2 Krogers in Dunwoody. GT & OP?
ReplyDeleteOP is in Sandy Springs. Has been in Fulton County ever since it was built. Dunwoody Club Drive is the county line and city limits. No fees or taxes for Dunwoody from there, of course. Maybe Milton County though someday. You'll figure this out once you get your Sunday sip I guess.
ReplyDeleteLOL Gar - let us know how that works out for ya, this not being the Borscht Belt and all!
