Atlanta Wine School, is preparing to open a new concept in Dunwoody’s Georgetown Shopping Center; Vino Venue, will serve as a “wine emporium” for enthusiasts.

The Dunwoody Police Department is investigating a Homicide that occurred at the Peachtree Place Apartments located at 4612-B Peachtree Place Parkway.  The victim, a 28 year old Hispanic male, was shot inside his apartment around 1222 hours this morning.  He was transported to Northside Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Dunwoody Perimeter Coffee Connection will feature a keynote speaker who is a local, regional or national leader in their industry. June 25 features Doug Callaway Executive Director, Georgia Transportation Alliance. 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. at the Ravinia Club and Spa.

A stream buffer educational forum will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at Dunwoody City Hall, 41 Perimeter Center East Dunwoody, GA 30346 in the Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend.

I haven't attended any of the offerings of Dunwoody Restaurant Week, but I will soon.

Dunwoody Toastmasters Club meets every Friday at 7:30 am at Georgia Power and is looking for new members. Lincoln LOGS Toastmasters also has openings and meets every other Monday from 12 to 1 p.m at the Georgia Medical Care Foundation which is about a block from City Hall near the mall. Finally the Atlanta Language Toastmasters Klub welcomes members who have English as their second language.  This club meets the 2nd & 4th Thursday evenings at 7 pm at Dunwoody Baptist Church.  Any questions please reach out to Annette at annettedjackson@yahoo.com

DeKalb School Budget Approved - There are four furlough days on the current calendar; there will be an additional two furlough days for a total of six furlough days, for Central Office and educators. Additional two students per class, standard and special education classes. A 1-mill tax increase, which is about $80 on a $200,000 house per year. Fernbank's budget has been reduced by $1.9 million from its budget of $5 million. it will remain open as a fully functioning science center.

  2. Atlanta Wine School founder Michael Bryan announced the expansion of his company in a press release Thursday with the opening of Vino Venue this fall.

    The new Dunwoody location will open at 4478 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in the newly refurbished Georgetown, according to the release.

    “We are combining a wine bar, a wine store, a tapas restaurant, and a culinary events facility into one. Vino Venue is the next step in our goal of creating a complete gastronomic experience for our clientele,” Bryan said in the release.

    “We are proud of the Atlanta Wine School’s success and are excited about the new products and services which will be available to our guests at Vino Venue.

    Vino Venue’s wine bar and dining will boast almost 50 wines by the glass. The wine retail porion of Vino Venue will offer a mix of internationally branded wines with small production, value wines (typically ranging from $12 – $15).

    The new location will also feature an event room with an open, demonstration kitchen equipped with innovative Dacor luxury appliances. The event room will be central to hosting local chefs and winemakers for food and wine experiences.
