Proclamation - Dunwoody Girl's Track Team wins State Championship



PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, the achievements of Dunwoody’s students highlight the commitment, spirit, and pride of the Dunwoody community and should be recognized; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 11, 2013 the Dunwoody High School Girls Track Team made history at the 2013 GHSA Track and Field Championships at Hugh Mills Stadium; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats placed first in five events at the meet and took top 5 positions in three other events; and

WHEREAS, the Girls Track Team was led to by State Champion Alex Cameron, the first individual State Champion for Dunwoody High School, who took first in the 1600m and 3200m races; and

WHEREAS, other victories included Lauren Jackson placing first in the 400m and 600m races, the 4x400m relay team placing first, the 4x100 relay team placing third, and Erica Banks placing third in the 100m and fourth in the 200m race; and

WHEREAS, the Girls Track Team has won its first state title since 2003 by capturing 69.33 total points, and now holds multiple individual and team state champion titles;

NOW, THEREFORE I, Michael G. Davis, Mayor of Dunwoody, Georgia, do hereby proclaim that, in recognition of the dedication, hard work, and achievement of the Dunwoody Girls Track Team, May 28, 2013 shall be known as:
“Dunwoody High School Girls Track Team Day”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Dunwoody to be affixed this 28th day of May, 2013.
