Dunwoody Residential Trash Pickup Days are either Tuesday & Wednesday

1 day a week pick up.

I also noticed a story highlighted at the Dunwoody Working Girl blog that a new law requires drivers to slow down and move over when passing a garbage truck, full story is here

  1. John--
    Thanx for the shout out.
Need to point out a problem with the Dunwoody rollout. (I also added this to a conversation on Terry Nall's facebook.)

The map says Briers North and the surrounding areas have pickup on Tuesday. Trash was picked up *today*. Terry called McBride, who says we're supposed to be picked up Tuesday but they just didn't get it.

The problem is the doorknob hanger materials say pickup is Wednesday.
I have a picture but can't post it in comments.

It's going to be a while before Sanitation gets this ironed out and it's not going to be pretty. :-/

  2. Another problem with the Dunwoody roll-out. The Ashworth neighborhood received hang-tags that said their day would be THURSDAY and the first pick-up would be July 9th. And.... it was today, WEDNESDAY, July 8th.

  3. I'm in the new Dunwoody Green neighborhood and trash has not been picked up since Wednesday. It is now Friday and the trash has been festering in the heat for 3 days now. No one at sanitation can give me a straight answer. Apparently the foreman in charge has his phone turned off and is not answering emails. This is a health hazard and totally ridiculous. Does anyone know who I can contact?

  4. Joe, first let me say welcome to Dunwoody and thank you for reaching out. I just called Mr. Billy Malone the Associate Director Sanitation for DeKalb County at 404-294-2927 and left a message. I will follow up with an email as Sanitation is handled by DeKalb County. We know there will be hiccups at first with this new service, lets just hope they get worked out quickly.

Please reach out to me at John.Heneghan@Dunwoodyga.gov if you need to contact me through official City email.

    Thanks

    John

  6. Here is another followup message from DeKalb Sanitation:

If DeKalb missed collections for any reason, please contact our customer service team at 404.294.2900 or sanitation@dekalbcountyga.gov. Once the call is made, our customer service team creates a service ticket and the field service team will act on the work order. Our goal is to address any missed collection requests within a 24-hour time frame.

Missed collections did occur last week, and the aforementioned process has worked very well in addressing these concerns in a timely and expeditious manner.

  7. John, thanks for your help with this matter, and sorry I didn't thank you sooner, we had a family emergency over the weekend (everything turned out OK).

I ended up receiving a text message response from the foreman Friday night stating they would pick up Saturday morning, and they did.

Hopefully we are now back on their route.

My frustration stemmed from lack of knowledge at the sanitation dept (404.294.2900). They kept telling me, "we're just the call center, all we can do is put in the request", they couldn't confirm the request was received by whoever they were sending it to.

Our neighborhood is new, and DeKalb has been promoting the new trash bins for months, so no one has purchased a regular trash bin. So imagine lose trash bags lining all the streets of the neighborhood for 3+ days. Not a pretty sight.

When I couldn't get resolution, I thought of your blog. I've been following it for a while, I've lived in the area for 5+ years. It has some great information. Thanks for taking the time to update it often.
