Every family should have Washington D.C. on their list for a family vacation (Spring Break is ideal) due to the numerous educational museums and monuments. For me a must stop for my family was the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum but if you have no immediate plans for travel to DC, I also recommend the "Anne Frank in the World" exhibit in Sandy Springs.
