Several Dunwoody Swim / Tennis Clubs are looking to make membership easier for first responders. Can your club do the same?
The City of Dunwoody is made up of various communities, some are neighborhoods, some are apartment complexes, we have religious institutions, and then there are large scale recreation / social clubs like the Jewish Community Center and the Dunwoody Country Club. Everyone needs community, and for many of us, that means a membership to one of the many local swim tennis clubs spread throughout our various neighborhoods.
Recently a Dunwoody Police Officer purchased a home in our fair town for his wife and growing family. I am overjoyed when this occurs as I believe it makes our community stronger by having first responders who serve our community, living among us. I offered him my congratulations, offered to answer any questions that any new resident might need to know, and even offered my wife to talk to his wife to answer her questions.
I then remembered how tough it typically was for a young couple buying their first home and the many expenses that come with it. The expensive needs sometimes come before the wants, therefore immediately joining a neighborhood swim tennis club where there is usually an initiation fee of maybe $500 along with the annual dues of another $500 is a tough nut to crack.
I mentioned this circumstance to my friend Heyward Wescott to bounce the situation off him, and he suggested that maybe the Kingsley Racquet and Swim Club could offer free initiation to first responders and active duty military. This would cut the cost in half for year one and then moving forward, they would be a valuable asset to the community organization.
Kingsley Racquet and Swim Club has already made this idea a reality, with others exporing the idea, can your club do the same? Please reach out to your board to see if this small token of gratitude can be offered to honor their service. Thanks
"You honor us through your commitment to our communities and country. We would like to express our gratitude by offering all First Responders, Active Duty Military, and Reserve men and women 100% off new member initiation fees. Thank you for your service!" Kingsley Racquet & Swim
