It was filmed on May 22nd, 2011 and involved 5000 people, marching bands, parades, weddings, motorcades, bridges on fire, helicopter take offs, and shutting down a major portion of the city.
Roger Ebert calls this “The Greatest Music Video Ever Made” and since it uses “American Pie,” written by Don McLean as the soundtrack I might just agree. The music video was created as an official response to the
Newsweek article calling Grand Rapids a “dying city” with the $40,000 production cost being entirely financed by the generosity of local sponsors.
