Paving on Tilly Mill Road through Doraville and DeKalb is scheduled for tomorrow & Friday.

I am very proud to announce that the repaving project for Tilly Mill Road has been extended south of the Dunwoody city line through sections of Doraville and unincorporated DeKalb County.  Grinding should start tomorrow and paving should be finished in that section by Friday.

A special thanks goes out to DeKalb Commissioner Elaine Boyer, her Chief of Staff Bob Lundsten and Doraville Mayor Donna Pittman for making this project possible with County funds.

  1. This is awesome! A huge thanks to the team who made this possible! Finally - a decision based upon logic! While the paving crew is available, might as well make use of them. The stretch from the Dunwoody line to Peachtree Industrial Blvd. is a blighted area and the repaving will go a long way towards making it look better. More importantly, it will go a long way towards eliminating old pot holes! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

  2. John, thanks for being the level headed person that you are, or at least can be. No one else had the vision or the sense of purpose to get this done.

  3. Great news!!! I always feel like my car needs realigning after driving that portion of Tilly Mill.

Thanks again, John, Commissioner Boyer, Mr. Lundsten and Mayor Pittman.

  4. John,
Thx you for your part in pushing this through. It was the right thing to do, especially since most of the drivers on this stretch of Tilly Mill are Dunwoody residents.
My tires thank you as well!

  5. John, Thanks for thinking out of the box, collaborating across jurisdictions and making this happen. Can you confirm with Michael Smith that the lanes will be painted the same as on N. Shallowford to a 10-ft width -- including center turn lanes -- and where possible at least a wider shoulder will be created at no additional cost? I'm talking about for the added safety of bicyclists, of course. I'll almost be able to head over to Home Depot on my bike to pick up a bag of cement, rocks and sheets of plywood, and tie them down onto my bike rack (lol). Thanks much!!

  6. Joe, I asked Michael about the striping on Tilly Mill and he stated that much of it will be identical to what was already there (little or no shoulder in some areas). Where it is wider, we will see what can be done after talks with Doraville.
