What an exceptional author!

Natasha Trethewey's "Native Guard" is perhaps the only book of poems by a contemporary living poet that I feel is written with an authentic voice.

To me Ms. Trethewey is as brilliant as Marianne Moore and her lyrical characterizations of the natural splendor of the South puts her on par for me with Robinson Jeffers' writings of the West.

I must work when her reading is scheduled, but I would urge anyone with an interest in poetry of quality not to miss it!

If you haven't seen the Katrina exhibit, I highly recommend it. Kudos to Spruill for another fine job.
