At this time, staff recommends the Council approve the contract....(for the fanciest video recording we can find!)
Staff recommends the renewal of our IGA with ChatComm as a subscriber....(because it cost more than ever!)
Staff recommends all things bright and shiny!!!!!!!!

All those who know me and my role in my little community would not be surprised to hear that I am in full support of renewal. There are very few people who have had the level of direct interaction with ChatComm that I have had, and while it has not been completely "blipless", (but 98% so), ChatComm does a superb job. So please Council, bring on the "bright and shiny" !!!!

TDT - time to take off the red shirt and wash it - it has developed an odor that is rather unpleasant.

dpgroupie, with all due respect I wouldn't renew my cell phone contract if rates were raised, service was stagnant and promised features failed to materialize. I'm trying to grasp the decision making here. Why re-up? Does someone have a personal financial stake? It cost zero additional tax money to use the Dekalb 911 and other than rumor and innuendo what reason was given for the change in the first place? How many millions of dollars could of been pumped into the parks budget, lobbying for a school system, striping more crosswalks or even hiring more cops so we have a cop available 90 percent of the time instead of 80? It's on record with council that using Chatcom as the 911 service nets us a 90 second to two minute delay in EMS and Fire calls and all the while there's a double tax for the privledge of this service delay. Think about that for two minutes. There needs to be a full disclosure of who is receiving compensation from this chartered authority. And the city councils of the serviced cities need to disclose if there is any personal financial interest in the corporation. This city council gets more action from their depised county than they've ever gotten from this authority or corporation yet they keep going back for more ill treatment. Did you notice the authority gave themselves and excellent report just before this vote? They want us to accept without question that the average 911 call is processed in 20 seconds; from "hello what your emergency" to "goodbye" in 20 seconds? And no surprise, police response also improved by their accounting. Just saying while wearing my fresh neutral colored shirt.
