Upcoming Dunwoody Civic Meetings

Dunwoody Civic Meetings are open to the public and are usually participatory. I attend quite a few of them (to my wife's frustration) in order to be informed and properly serve you on the City Council. Many of the items that will be coming in front of the Council are vetted by the Community Council and Planning Commission both of which allow comments from the public regarding the matters before them. The DHA and Sustainability both review and/or propose important items which may also be coming in front of the Council, therefore they are also of importance to me and the community.

Tonight (Sunday) is the monthly meeting of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association taking place at 7:30 at the DeKalb Cultural Arts Center (Room 4). The DeKalb Cultural Arts Center is located behind the Dunwoody Library at 5339 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338. Feel free to attend; these meetings are open to the public.

Monday is the City Council meeting at 7 pm at City Hall.

The Planning Commission will be meeting on Tuesday June 9th and their agenda shows that they will be discussing a Special Land Use Permit for the Curry Recovery Center for transitional housing at the corner of Peachford & Shallowford. They are also reviewing an amendment on wing walls in residential zones.

Community Council will be meeting on Thursday June 11th and the agenda shows they will be discussing a text amendment to add the Outdoor Lighting Efficiency Ordinance which requires efficient operation of outdoor lighting by limiting misdirected, excessive, or unnecessary outdoor lighting. Another topic is a new zoning designation for governmental properties.

The Sustainability Commission has their own website which offers the opportunity to participate via the web, meets the morning of Thursday June 11th and their agenda shows that they will be discussing a list of items from the ARC Green Communities requirements.

At Monday nights City Council meeting it was announced that the Special Land Use Permit for the Curry Center, a transitional housing center for alcoholics, has withdrawn their request, therefore it will not be heard at Tuesday's meeting.
