Dunwoody's Bob Fiscella gives a great interview on the What's Up Dunwoody Podcast, talks Dunwoody, Schools, broadcasting, Ted Turner and Braves World Series

Bob Fiscella is a friend of mine or maybe a better leadoff quote is that Bob Fiscella is a friend to everyone.  He's a great guy who is involved in community affairs, schools, supporting athletics and other philanthropy.  Bob is a real estate agent with Keller Williams who has served and sold every Dunwoody community in his long career. 

Before becoming a real estate agent in 2007, Bob was an Emmy award-winning sports anchor for CNN & Fox where he covered the Braves and interviewed numerous celebrities like Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, and former NBA great Bill Russell.   When he wasn't interviewing celebrities, he was known to hang out and drinking coffee with Ted Turner during the early days of CNN.  


Over the long Presidents day weekend, my family and I spent a few days away and I was able to listen to a few podcasts on the long ride.   Bob was interviewed by Matt Weber and Justin Dike over on the What's Up Dunwoody Podcast and Charming Bob did a nice interview as expected.  Bob has served on the Dunwoody Homeowners Association for many years, he has run for the City Council when the City was newly formed and has now taken up the mantel for changes in our school system.

Wings and Wheels / Children's Event at the Dunwoody Library - Saturday 10 am to 2 pm

Join us for We Love the Library Day celebrating Wings & Wheels! This free event will be filled with activities for kids and for the inner kid in everyone, including operating model trains, exploring a police car, getting to know some colorful birds, and a book reading by Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch.

There will be refreshments, crafts, a silent auction and photo opportunities, including one with a giant balloon biplane. Everyone also will get to take home a souvenir.

On Tuesday the Dunwoody Planning Commission is meeting and they have discussions taking place on the proposed changes to the zoning of Dunwoody Village.  Once the Planning Commission hears, approves, modifies or makes suggestions to the zoning plan, the next move will be to the City Council for more hearings, changes and possible approval.  I will be following this matter closely and listening to the various points raised.  I also believe the Dunwoody Homeowners Association (have you paid your dues?) will be discussing this same matter on Sunday night so you may want to attend to listen or weigh in there.

Review and consideration of new Dunwoody Village District Zoning Regulations (Chapter 27)

RZ20-01: An ordinance to amend the official City of Dunwoody zoning map to rezone multiple parcels within Dunwoody Village to create newly adopted Dunwoody Village Districts as contemplated in the new Dunwoody Village Zoning Regulations

City of Dunwoody is getting ready to design and build a new park in Perimeter Center.

Pet-Friendly Pocket Park with Gathering/Play Areas & Nature Trails in Perimeter Center

The Perimeter Center East Park is a small pocket park nestled behind Perimeter Center East providing public green space to local residents within walking distance. The park’s proposed facilities include a walking path, a central plaza with a water feature, a small playground and additional space for a sculpture plaza and greenery. The central plaza water feature will contain water movement creating pleasant background sounds for park users by helping eliminate traffic noise from adjacent roads. A water fountain with a pet bowl is planned for the area’s four-legged residents.

Connected by a 10-foot brick walkway around the perimeter, the park will include benches and swings along the walk. The lower section of the park will serve as a retention pond, surrounded by nature trails with a wood chip surface in areas that are not prone to flooding or standing water.
The space will provide areas for people to gather, walk pets, enjoy nature trails and allow children to play. Approximately 50 parking spaces should be available. As with the other parks, the site will include waste receptacles and dog waste bag dispensers.

Dunwoody do you have external security cameras? Let the DPD know so if needed to solve a local crime, they can ask you to review footage.

The Dunwoody Police Department is introducing the #SilentPartnersProgram - a new community initiative designed to fight crime with new technology. Using a network of security cameras and license plate readers (LPRs), the department will partner with residents and business owners to share and stream video footage that may assist in solving and preventing crime.

The Dunwoody Police Department has developed a secure mapping system that will identify locations of private cameras that might be helpful in solving personal and property crimes.

The portal provides the location of registered cameras. If a crime occurs near a camera listed on the map, investigators may request video footage for a specific time period to look for suspicious cars, people or other evidence. Cooperation with any request is voluntary and confidential, and only law enforcement personnel will have access to the portal.

VOLUNTARY AND CONFIDENTIAL Registration in the Silent Partner program means only alerting Dunwoody’s Police Department that your home or business has security cameras and the areas covered. We’ll do the rest. If detectives feel that your camera’s footage could help, you will be contacted. Cooperation with any request is voluntary. Once provided, only law enforcement personnel would have access to the portal. Register here.
