Lemonade Days Festival starts today in Dunwoody's Brook Run Park

Lemonade Days will run from Wednesday, April 18th through Sunday, April 22nd

Featuring more than 30 full-scale carnival rides (wristbands for unlimited rides are available [$20 on Wednesday; $25 Thursday-Sunday]), more than 20 fabulous food and beverage vendors, a 5K Run, three days of center stage performances and the popular Dunwoody Idol contest, Lemonade Days is a Dunwoody Signature Event that has become a highlight of the city’s calendar and its most popular family event of the year. Full schedule of events here.

Lemonade Days is held at Brook Run, located at 4770 North Peachtree Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338.

(One of the secrets of Lemonade Days is that if you want the best value for rides per hour with limited crowds, attending on Wednesday & Thursday is your best bet as the weekend can get very crowded and the lines for the rides get a little longer.)

Dunwoody High hosts Georgia High School Girls State Gymnastics Meet - Saturday April 14th - 10 a.m. @OfficialGHSA

State gymnastics  meet comes to Dunwoody
Dunwoody High School Gym
5035 Vermack Rd, Dunwoody
Saturday - April 14
10:00 am start - $7.00 at the door.

I have three teenage boys and know absolutely nothing about girls gymnastics except that Perimeter Gymnastics at the MJCCA in Dunwoody is a great local program and that my friend and former President of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, Ms. Stacey Harris runs the show over there.

Anyway, I ran across the fact that Dunwoody High School will be hosting the preliminary Georgia High School Girls Gymnastics State Meet on Saturday morning and that if I had a little girl interested in the sport that it might be quality low cost entertainment for the morning; so I figured I would share.

Doors open at 10 am and the top 16 schools in the state will be participating.

Irish Tenor Emmet Cahill to Perform Concert Benefiting Dunwoody Youth - Sunday, April 29th 7 pm at Dunwoody United Methodist Church

On Sunday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. Dunwoody United Methodist Church welcomes Irish tenor, Emmet Cahill.  An award-winning Irish tenor and a principal vocalist with the renowned Irish music show Celtic Thunder, Cahill’s concert benefits The Summit CounselingCenter at Dunwoody UMC.

Proceeds are designated to serve youth in the Dunwoody community. According the National Institute of Mental Health, 1 in 5 children ages 13-18 have or will have a serious mental illness. Additionally, 50% of all lifetime cases begin by age 14, but on average there’s a delay of 8-10 years between the onset of symptoms and appropriate intervention. The goal of the Emmet Cahill concert is to enhance mental health care resources for youth in the Dunwoody community and provide early intervention.

Cahill is promoting his album “Emmet Cahill’s Ireland” which went to number one on the Amazon, iTunes and Billboard World Music chart. Cahill offers his interpretation of the best of the traditional Irish repertoire, including “Danny Boy”, “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, “An Irish Lullaby”, “My Cavan Girl” and “The Parting Glass.”  The Dunwoody UMC Chancel Choir, directed by Rev. Sonny Walden, and the Dunwoody UMC Youth Choir, led by Mark Lamback, will join Cahill for multiple songs.

General admission tickets are $30 and may be purchased online at www.emmetcahill.com/tour-dates or at the door. A limited number of Meet & Greet tickets, which include a pre-concert meeting with Emmet plus the concert, are available for $45.
