How will the construction of a new elementary school on Chamblee-Dunwoody road impact the Chamblee-Dunwoody Georgetown gateway project both during construction (which should overlap) and after completion of both with increased activity (busses, car pools and foot traffic) going to and from the school.
@Ben - what new elementary school on Chamblee-Dunwoody?
What are you talking about?
During the Elementary School redistricting in February 2020, Dunwoody and Chamblee were promised a new elementary school would be built to reduce overcrowding. This was to be built in time to open for the 2023 school year. It is somewhat of an open secret that the school will be built at the location of the former Shallowford Elementary on Chamblee - Dunwoody Road.
I don't think the Board of Education has voted to approve the budget for the overall construction, but I think some money was approved for architects over the summer. this post has some discussion on the topic - http://factchecker.stanjester.com/2020/01/11213/
