Thursday, March 5th is a very important date for DCSS Schools as this is the day when the state's Department of Education conducts the second Full Time Equivalent (FTE) count of all students enrolled and present in class.
DCSS is requesting that you make all possible efforts to send your child to school on March 5th as the number of students in class will determine the funding for the 2009-2010 school year.
DCSS is requesting your support through your child being at school on March 5th so we can maximize the per pupil funds allocated for DCSS schools. This will provide us the funds to continue with all the wonderful academics and enrichment programs as they are this year and fund our improvement plans too.
Looking at its first two months of operation, Dunwoody has collected more money than expected, but spent less.
The city’s January financial report, which includes money spent since beginning operations on Dec. 1, 2008, shows the city brought in nearly $480,000, about $160,000 more than it planned to collect.
At the same time, the city paid $1.5 million in various bills, instead of the $2.7 million projected in the 2009 budget. Finance Director John Grotheer said the snapshot means the city is on solid financial footing as it enters its first full year of existence. Still, officials expect budget amendments in the coming year, as costs and income become more clear.
“We will monitor our budget closely and adjust as necessary,” Grotheer said.
