Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce looking for nominations on City's Best Business


To recognize excellence, the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations of local Dunwoody businesses in several areas of achievement.  The Chamber, viewed as the voice of the business community, will recognize Top Achievers at the First Annual Dunwoody Business Expo April 21st at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia.  Winners will be announced during the Dunwoody Business Expo Luncheon which begins at 11:30am.  Award nominations must be received by March 15, 2011.

The following categories are open for nominations at www.dunwoodycommerce.org:
  • Rising Star Award – Recognizing a distinguished business owner under the age of 40 who exemplifies leadership and community involvement through the Dunwoody Chamber.
  • Good Eats Award – Presented to a restaurant or caterer that provides incredibly edible products and exceptional customer service in the Dunwoody community.
  • Growing Green Award – For a locally owned company that has taken action to become more environmentally friendly or has invented or distributed products to assist other companies in becoming more environmentally friendly.
  • Small Business of the Year Award – Recognizing the Dunwoody business that has demonstrated outstanding service, community involvement and standout community leadership.
  • People’s Choice Award – Voted on by the Dunwoody Community as an opportunity to recognize their “Favorite” Dunwoody business.
“Part of the Chamber’s role is to recognize outstanding contributions business owners offer our community,” said Chamber Chair Bill Grant. “This first annual Business Expo is an excellent opportunity for people in Dunwoody and across Atlanta to meet Dunwoody business owners and recognize their leadership and innovation.”

John Heagy, Senior Vice-President of Marketing at Hines, a privately owned international real estate firm, will serve as Keynote Speaker at the Expo Luncheon and will provide a local, national and global perspective on Perimeter/Dunwoody as the place for business and future growth.

Ken Wright, Mayor of the City of Dunwoody, will officially cut the ribbon for the inaugural Expo.

The Dunwoody Business Expo will feature several breakout sessions of key importance including:
  • Doing Business with Dunwoody, Rich Hampton, Purchasing Manager, City of Dunwoody
  • New Federal Healthcare Laws & How They Impact Business, Jenny Cummiskey, RHU, VP Peachtree Benefit Group
  • Social Media Strategies to Grow Your Business, Carol Flammer, Managing Partner, mRelevance
