Hike starts at 8:00
While the Nature Center usually closes at sundown, this spring
visitors will have the rare chance to connect with nature after-hours
allowing for a completely different sensory experience as the nocturnal
animals take over, and nature truly runs its course. Join us for leisurely, family oriented hikes that follow the trails around the wetlands and back forests of Dunwoody Park. Under the light of the stars and armed with flashlights, Nature Center educators will guide groups through the hike, offering a chance to hear the night time sounds of owls, bats, and other nocturnal creatures as well as the gentle flow of Wildcat Creek. Hikers are encouraged to gather around before the hikes in the Nature Center’s newly renovated meadow to enjoy hot cocoa and huddle by a warm fire in the old fireplace - a remnant of the original homestead on the property. The evening is free for the entire family, but please note that strollers are not recommended along the mulched trails.
We'll start at 8 p.m. and allow the sun to set before venturing out on our hike. If you have any questions, please contact the program office at (770) 394-3322.
