John--I applaud the inclusion of youth on the sustainability and volunteer communities. But I'm curious...why limit the high school aged members to students at DHS? Why not include high school aged students in general who are residents of Dunwoody?

Thanks for the question Susan. This topic was discussed several weeks ago and there was almost universal agreement that we have Dunwoody kids at Chamblee, DeKalb School of the Arts and many other schools therefore this should not be limited to just one named school. When we saw the agenda item for this week we were surprised it was not changed but made the necessary changes to make it work. We also had a deep discussion several weeks ago that a Dunwoody Youth Council with many students should be formed to allow even deeper involvement and that may happen yet but until then we approved the Mayor's initiative on these two committees allowing all Dunwoody teenagers to apply and then made the student exfacto members.
