Dunwoody City Council - Election Day

Go Vote at your normal polling place !

Today is Election Day in Dunwoody and if you haven't already done so, please go vote for the candidates of your choice.

The polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm and I am planning on bringing my older sons into the voting booth with me to cast the vote. (How many of you have ever voted for your father? I definitely want to share this momentous occasion with my boys.)

The results of each polling place are normally posted on the window as the poll workers close up shop around 8 p.m. therefore if all 13 Dunwoody polling places were watched and the numbers from each tallied; the results could be tabulated by 8:30 or 9.

I believe I ran a good campaign; win, lose or draw I am proud of the effort that I put forward. I would like to thank all of my friends, neighbors and my supporters who cast their ballot for John Heneghan for Dunwoody City Council. Without the love and support of my wife Kristin; this campaign wouldn't have happened, thank you for putting up with me!

This evening Kristin & I are planning on stopping by a few of the other candidates parties celebrating with each of them for running a good campaign. ( I would have said all of them but I'm not sure what some people are doing?)

For six of us the adventure is just beginning.

If you haven't seen my official campaign video, this is it's official retirement; never to be posted again. I promise!

i am hearing grumblings about who the first Chief of Police is going to be. I have heard Gene Wilson will be appointed Police Chief in the near future. Guys and girls, i believe this is a huge mistake. from what i know, WSB TV channel 2 is waiting in the shadows to run a story on Mr. Wilson once he is hired. I am a voter and just want to say we as a city, DO NOT need to be tarnished like this!! Please do the right thing and appoint someone else.

I think we should NOT go ahead with our own police department until we see what it would cost to contract with Sandy Springs PD.

Why in the world would our city take a chance like that when there has to be other more qualified candidates without all that baggage. I know politics is politics but this is hard to comprehend. I've been behind Dunwoody from the very beginning but this makes me leary of a new city when decisions like this are made. Why would we as a new city have to accept Gene Wilson as a Police Chief when all we need to do is look at his former department in Sandy Springs. It is in total disarray right now as a direct result of his leadership.

The Police task Force was full of Feds; guys wearing suits to work, not a gun and a badge. Although they did a great job on most of their report, they should have zero input on the selection of a chief. I think the new mayor and council will do the right thing when looking for a chief. The new council has NO obligation to the Police Task Force. I think the new council should consult not only with the GA Chief Assoc but also with the folks down in Forsyth at the LE Training Center and also people with GALEFI.

John, let me be the first to congratulate you on becoming a member of Dunwoody's first City Council.

Rick i agree with you about the task force not having total control, however, i think they have been working hard and the candidates they have narrowed it down to are some very good ones. My only heartburn is that some of them have skeletons in their closets and outright baggage that could tarnish us from the get go! Congratulations JOHN, i look forward to working with you.
