Adult Day of
Dunwoody is a medical- model adult day health services
center which supports the daily living needs of adults so they can live in
their homes and communities for as long as possible. The center is open
from 8:00am to 5:30 pm and provides meals, clinical care from a registered
nurse, physical, speech, and occupational therapy, daily exercise, and
socialization for its’ participants. “It’s not sitting services,” jokes Georgia
Gunter, Adult Day of Dunwoody’s Executive Director, “Basically it’s a social
club, but with supervision and excellent medical care.” In addition, Adult Day
of Dunwoody is significantly more affordable than assisted living or home care alternatives
costing between $60-$80/day. “We want to keep people living with their families
and in their communities for as long as possible,” says Leanne Hymes, Adult
Day’s Director of Development and Physical Therapy, “I tell people honestly,
without lying, that I’d send a family member here.”
One in 3 seniors over the
age of 65 will take a devastating fall this year. In honor of Fall Prevention
Month, Adult Day of Dunwoody will be sponsoring a Fall Prevention Event at
their center on Wednesday, October 21 from 10:30am-2: 30pm. They will have
complimentary fall, vision, and hearing screenings along with flu shots, memory
tests and medication checks. The event is open to the public and the community
is encouraged to attend. For more information about the event or the Dunwoody
